We design Speechy with child privacy and parent transparency in mind. This policy describes what information may be processed, why it is used, and your choices.
1. Child Privacy Commitments
- Speechy is intended for use by children with parent or guardian supervision.
- We do not provide social posting, public profiles, or open chat features for children.
- We do not serve third-party advertising to children in the app.
We aim to support child-privacy requirements, including COPPA-aligned practices for data minimization and parent control.
2. Information We Process
Parent-provided profile data
- Child name or nickname (if entered)
- Child date of birth / age
- Onboarding and preference responses
This profile data is used for in-app personalization and is not used to identify your child across services.
Child name and gender stay on the local device and are never sent to our servers.
Basic non-identifying usage data
- Feature opens and basic interaction counts
- Crash and performance diagnostics
- App/device technical context (for stability)
We do not request microphone recording permission for child speech capture in the current app version.
3. How We Use Information
- Personalize language and speech practice flows.
- Track progress and improve activity quality over time.
- Measure onboarding and feature performance.
- Support subscription status and restore-purchase flows.
- Operate optional reminder notifications if enabled by the parent.
4. On-Device Storage
Core profile and onboarding data are stored locally on the device (for example in app storage) so the app can personalize sessions and preserve progress between launches.
Child name and gender remain local to the device and are never sent to our servers.
5. Basic Usage & Diagnostics
- We only use limited, non-identifying usage and diagnostic data (for example feature usage frequency, crashes, and app performance).
- This data is used to keep the app stable and improve the learning experience.
- This data is not used to identify a specific child.
6. Purchases & Subscription Data
- In-app purchases and subscription management are handled through app store billing systems.
- We do not store full payment card information in Speechy.
- Purchase status and entitlement data may be processed to unlock subscribed features.
7. Notifications
If a parent enables notifications, we may schedule reminder notifications to support daily practice consistency. Notification permissions can be changed anytime in device settings.
8. Data Sharing
- We share only what is needed with service providers required to run core app functionality and billing.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use in-app data for third-party behavioral advertising to children.
9. Retention, Controls & Rights
- Local app data remains on device until removed by reset, uninstall, or equivalent app/device actions.
- You can stop notifications through device settings at any time.
- For privacy questions or requests, contact us and we will review applicable options under relevant law.
10. International Processing
Depending on infrastructure and provider locations, data may be processed in countries other than your own. We apply reasonable safeguards and contractual measures appropriate for supported regions.
